§ 74-68. Ownership and care of meters.

  • All meters, whether installed on private property or not, shall remain the property of the city. The cost of repairing and maintaining meters shall be borne by the city, except when meters are damaged due to hot water backing into them, or due to carelessness on the part of the consumers, property owners or their agents, when the costs of such repairs will be billed to the property owner and if not paid within 30 days the city will shut off the supply of water and add an amount as specified in the schedule of fees and charges to the amount due, to cover the cost of the cutoff, all of which shall be paid before service is again restored.
