§ 14-1. Authorizing provisions.

  • (a)

    The city council herein finds that control of animals is a major problem that affects the health and safety of the citizens of the City of Riverdale. Uncontrolled animals, vicious animals, unauthorized breeding of animals and unclaimed animals that have been confiscated by the authorities constitute nuisances that detrimentally affect the city and its citizens.

    (b)

    Pursuant to the City Charter, sections 47 and 58, the council has the authority and now chooses to exercise that authority to regulate animal control in the City of Riverdale.
