§ 74-36. Water and sewerage bills; date due and payable; delinquency penalties.
(a)
All accounts or bills for water and sewerage service used or consumed shall be due and payable to the city, by consumers thereof, on the day succeeding the date of the mailing of such bills or accounts, and, to the amount of all such accounts or bills which are not paid before the expiration of the tenth day succeeding the date upon which such accounts or bills were mailed, an additional amount of ten percent shall be charged and collected; and if such accounts or bills, including the additional charge of ten percent, are not paid before the expiration of the 20th day succeeding the date on which such accounts or bills were mailed, the water service shall be discontinued and not turned on again until all delinquent charges, including the ten percent additional charge, plus a reconnection charge in an amount as set forth in the schedule of fees and charges, if water has been discontinued, are paid in full.
(b)
Valid checks mailed in the city and postmarked prior to midnight of the 20th day succeeding the date on which the bills or accounts were mailed will be accepted as payment. In the calculation of the 20th day hereinabove referred to, the date of the mailing of such accounts or bills shall not be included.
(c)
No discount shall be allowed for payment of water and sewerage bills.
