§ 84. Validity of act.

Be it further enacted, that in the event any article, section, paragraph or provision or provisions of this act, in whole or in part, or any isolated portion of this act, or any provisions herein contained, shall be declared illegal by a court of competent jurisdiction, such shall not have the effect of destroying or impairing the validity of the remaining part, unless expressly so held by a court of competent jurisdiction. In the event the General Assembly shall have granted herein to the City of Riverdale any powers or authorities in excess of any such permitted by the constitution and laws of Georgia or the United States, then such powers or authorities given shall be construed to extend just so far as possible not to exceed the said authority of the General Assembly.
